I-84 Ramp Reopens After Officer-Involved Shooting In Danbury

An exit ramp on I-84 near the New York/Connecticut border has reopened after an officer-involved shooting resulted in its closure.

Danbury Police and State Police remain on scene at Old Ridgebury Road, Connecticut State Police following the incident that occurred before noontime on Wednesday, July 3.

The Department of Transportation had shut down the Exit 2 ramp at Ridgebury Road. Road closures also affected traffic near Trader Joe's and Rosie Tomorrow's on Mill  Plain Road.

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton said the officer involved was not injured and that there is no threat to the public.

The shooting occurred after police responded to a report of an assault near fields on the former Union Carbide property off Reserve Road. The 30-year-old man shot was hospitalized. There has been no report on his condition.

Further details regarding the incident have not yet been released.
